Circa 1880-1920
The sun has gone down and the sky it looks red, The ploughshare is turning the ground where I’ve led; The furrows I make as I follow the plough, Are the marks of my labour, my sweat on my brow.
I’ve followed the oxen from morning till night, Guiding their footsteps with all of my might; The fields are all ready for sowing the seed, The ploughshare has done its good honest deed.
